Our Shared Journey and Expertise

Our journey as a couple and as therapists has been deeply intertwined. Together, we’ve completed numerous certifications and trainings that shape our approach to couples counseling. In 2004, we both completed the 96-hour Imago Relationship Therapy certification program, marking the beginning of our specialization in couples work. Since then, we’ve trained in The Gottman Method, Sue Johnson’s EFT, Internal Family Systems for Couples (IFIO), and Terry Real’s RLT, among other highly regarded methodologies.

A pivotal part of our journey was participating in a 210-hour Master Class in Encounter-Centered Couples Therapy with Hedy Schleifer from 2014 to 2017. This training has had a profound impact on how we work with couples, particularly during our Couples Intensives, where the emphasis is on creating life-changing relational shifts in a short amount of time.

More recently, we’ve been exploring the integration of transformational experiences—including those derived from plant medicine journeys—into everyday life. As more couples come to us seeking support in integrating these profound experiences, we continue to evolve and expand our expertise in this area.

Our combined approach blends science, spirituality, and deep emotional work to help couples achieve the breakthrough they seek.

Our Commitment to Your Transformation

We are dedicated to guiding couples toward deep, authentic healing. The work we do is about more than learning new communication strategies—it’s about creating the conditions for real transformation. We invite you to experience a Couples Intensive, where you can step out of old patterns, embrace growth, and reconnect with the heart of your relationship.

Together, we’ll create a space where lasting change becomes not just possible, but inevitable.

Leslie

I believe in the inherent goodness of all people, and I am deeply inspired by the healing work I witness in couples. It’s an honor to help partners build trust, rekindle love, and cultivate a deep understanding of how to truly be with each other. Throughout our work, I often see the shift toward softer, smiling eyes—a marker of profound transformation. For me, the impact goes beyond the couple. When clients share that their children are noticing the changes too, I smile and think, “we’re healing the planet, one couple at a time.” Being of service in this way is a core part of my life’s mission.

My work is deeply informed by my relationship with my husband and a rich foundation in neuroscience, mindfulness, and body-centered practices. I believe in the power of working with the body, as it speaks truths that the mind sometimes obscures. Through this, I help couples break through long-standing relational blocks, releasing outdated stories and rediscovering a more connected, attuned way of being together.

I am particularly passionate about helping couples explore the balance between the Sacred Feminine and Sacred Masculine, a crucial part of healing from the damaging effects of patriarchal, power-over dynamics in our culture. This work is pivotal for creating meaningful, lasting change.

To be effective, I must be embodied, curious, creative and present. In my practice, I’m guided by mindfulness, allowing me to be both light and firm, serious and playful, and always fully alive in the moment with each couple. My work is not only a profession but a spiritual journey.

I earned my Master’s in Expressive Arts Therapy from Lesley College in 1982.  I was introduced to family systems work which spoke strongly to me. I have worked for years with children and families and have dedicated my career to couples therapy since 1993. I continuously train, both individually and alongside Steven, to ensure that we are always at the forefront of cutting-edge relational work.

In my personal life, I enjoy hiking in the forest alone or with my husband and our dog, Talia (who will meet and greet you at the door if you like), practicing qigong, creating beauty in my garden and communing with the plants, cooking for others, swimming twice a week in our endless pool and cold plunging (thanks to Steven), creative writing, ecstatic dance and connecting with my family and friends.

I am deeply committed to helping couples transform their relationships, reconnect, and grow. Rooted in embodied presence, neuroscience, and relational models, my work is an active, collaborative journey that invites curiosity, playfulness, and meaningful change. To truly support couples, I continuously evolve as a person, partner, and therapist.

My professional path began with mindfulness. As a young adult, I participated in numerous 10-day Vipassana retreats, which profoundly shaped my ability to be present with myself and others. After earning a Master’s in Social Work from Boston University in 1990, I worked in special education and community mental health before specializing in couples therapy.

Leslie and I began our couples therapy journey with Imago Relationship Therapy training in 2004. Since then, we’ve deepened our expertise through the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Polyvagal Theory, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Hedy Schleifer’s three-year Master Class in Encounter-Centered Couples Therapy (2014–17) had a lasting impact on our personal and professional lives, shaping how we guide couples toward breakthroughs, particularly in intensives.

Currently, I am pursuing certification in Terry Real’s Relational Life Therapy, focusing on how early-life adaptations and cultural dynamics shape relationships. My growth as a therapist is enriched by personal IFS consultation and practices like breathwork and Tantra Yoga, which deepen my understanding of connection and resilience.

I believe every couple has the potential for profound growth and healing. With the right support, you can step out of old patterns and create a relationship rooted in maturity, flexibility, and love. I invite you to take the first step by scheduling a consultation.
