Steven Klockow

I am deeply committed to helping couples transform their relationships, reconnect, and grow. Rooted in embodied presence, neuroscience, and relational models, my work is an active, collaborative journey that invites curiosity, playfulness, and meaningful change. To truly support couples, I continuously evolve as a person, partner, and therapist.

My professional path began with mindfulness. As a young adult, I participated in numerous 10-day Vipassana retreats, which profoundly shaped my ability to be present with myself and others. After earning a Master’s in Social Work from Boston University in 1990, I worked in special education and community mental health before specializing in couples therapy.

Leslie and I began our couples therapy journey with Imago Relationship Therapy training in 2004. Since then, we’ve deepened our expertise through the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Polyvagal Theory, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Hedy Schleifer’s three-year Master Class in Encounter-Centered Couples Therapy (2014–17) had a lasting impact on our personal and professional lives, shaping how we guide couples toward breakthroughs, particularly in intensives.

Currently, I am pursuing certification in Terry Real’s Relational Life Therapy, focusing on how early-life adaptations and cultural dynamics shape relationships. My growth as a therapist is enriched by personal IFS consultation and practices like breathwork and Tantra Yoga, which deepen my understanding of connection and resilience.

I believe every couple has the potential for profound growth and healing. With the right support, you can step out of old patterns and create a relationship rooted in maturity, flexibility, and love. I invite you to take the first step by scheduling a consultation.
